Harry Pasternak made a good list of *physical design items* that can increase
social interaction.

A while back there was a discussion about cooperative community activities.
 Let me reiterate some (for new list server folks/lurkers?):

-  Business interaction, cooperation, resource (office?) sharing
-  Cooperative parenting/child care
-  Gardening, horticulture, edible landscape, etc.
-  Arts, ceremonies, music, dance
-  Sports, hobbies

The more holistic your involvement, the more you'll get out of it and the
more cohesive will your community be.
