PATRICK_BENNETT [at] STORTEK.COM Patrick Bennett is the author of the message below but due to a listserv problem it was posted (with changed subject line) by the COHOUSING-L sysop (Fred). **************** FORWARDED MESSAGE FOLLOWS ********************* Actually, you bring up a question which would be good to poll the general community about. How many co-housing projects consider/provide this type of commercial/service/residential mix? Someone mentioned, in response to a question about workshops, that most coho places are just residential. Is this generally true? And does proximity to these services come into consideration when selecting a site? I know cohousing is not intended as an answer to the car culture, but it seems counter- productive to create this great community out in the middle of nowhere, where you have to drive a long way to get to work or the grocery store. Maybe the real question is, what are the criteria for selecting a site? Now that I think about it, is there a cohousing FAQ? (So I can stop answering questions which have probably already been asked :-) Patrick -- _________________________________________________________________________ Patrick R.
