I contend that substatially more people know the term cohousing
and what it means now that a few years ago. As an evidence I cite
the following interaction.

Yesterday I called a fellow I did not know and have no reason to
believe he knows anything about cohousing. I called him because he
lives near me and also has a child in the big Latin American culture
camp here this week. I called to maybe find someone to help transport
a kids if I get in a bind as well as meet another nearby parent of
a Latin American child.

Our discussion revealed numerous common interests - he represents
adoption and welform reform groups as a national lobbiest which is
similar in some ways to the neighborhood organizing kinds of stuff I do
as a volunteer.

Cohousing came up when I was asking if he used email yet and mentioned
what I do on the net mostly... I asked if he was familiar with the
term cohousing. His response was something like: 'Is that like the
community down in Saint Louis Park?' referring to Monterey which had a
great front page article in the Saturday "Home" section of the
Minneapolis Star-Tribune a few weeks ago just before their
groundbreaking.

I have had similar responses in the last year or so. Admittedly I talk
to lots of folks who are likely to be interested in the idea of
'community' and likely to be interested in cohousing, likely to be
activist inclined and better informed than average which may skew my
observations.

I think we are building support and knowledge of cohousing generally
well beyond the number of people who have managed to get moved into
cohousing etc.
