We're looking for real-life examples of co-housing communities which happen to include individuals with disabilities or families with a member who happens to be disabled. We're collaborating on a research project for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, exploring co-housing as one approach towards developing community supports for individuals with disabilities. Would any list-member who knows of examples please refer us on to the appropriate contacts? Would all list members please forward this query to co-housing friends, communities and developers that you happen to be in touch with? We're trying to overcome the tendency to develop segregated housing options for people with disabilities and their families. In addition, we're very interested in looking at how inclusion in a co-housing community can offset the need for formalized services. Thanks very much. -- David Wetherow, Faye Buchanan & Amber Svingen The Community Institute 820 Mariner Way * Parksville, BC V9P 1S3 CANADA Tel: 604-248-1714 * Fax: 604-248-2685 wetherow [at] qb.island.net ----------------------------------------------- Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That's how the light gets in. --Leonard Cohen ----------------------------------------------- Visit Inclusion Press at http://www.inclusion.com and Gentle Teaching Institute at http://www.knoware.nl/users/gentle/
