Cohousing-L Mailing List: Garages???

Commonweal, designing site plan for our Grafton, Mass., site, needs some
information from existing cohousing groups about garages and the part they may
play in attracting people (and not losing people who wouldn't be able to have
one). We have said we would have 40% of our units with garages, reflecting the
percentage of our core group who want them (and core group is about 25% of what
we need for full group)--and it is a big element in trying to develop our site
plan.
        We'd also like to know any data, hard and soft, about effect that garage
or lack thereof might have on re-sale possibilities--do garages m ake units less
re-saleable? (or more? or dont' seem to have effect? or???)
        To be fair, we must note that this is New England that we live in up 
here
-- which has been in the last few years in a heavy snowfall mode... so if you're
from Arizona or Florida or one of those places without any snow or cold weather,
thanks, anyway, but we suspect garages have a different meaning up here in the
snow belt.
