"TV-Free America?" Am I to deduce from this that a group is seeking to rid America of the television? Oh, that's ducky solution! And one that works as well as "shoot the messenger" and "treat the symptom not the problem." Sorry, but banishing TV won't accomplish anything more than depriving millions of responsible viewers of a good source of information, education, entertainment, and commerce. Might even start a civil war, if not a cultural battle of staggering proportions. Besides, America is "land of the free," isn't it? How can we be free if we don't have choices? What gives you anti-TV folks the right to decide that TV is no good for me or anyone else? Sure, TV's influence is enormous and the statistics support a disturbing negative behavior that correlates with TV watching. But it is NOT universal, TV is NOT the sole cause of that problem, and the solution is NOT to kill TV. The solution is to upgrade programming and/or control access, plus deal positively with other contributing factors. It's ironic that people so into "community" are first in line to destroy the vehicle that has done more to make the world a global community than anything else in history. --Carolyn Haley
