Hi. My name is Dave and I'm working with a group of folks in the northeast Ohio area (Akron/Cleveland) to create a cohousing community. We are in the very early stages and are always looking for more people. Anyway, one of the things we are currently doing to get to know each other is to help with projects at each other's houses (painting, etc.) A question arose about the possible consequences if someone were to get seriously injured while working at someone else's house. I don't mean that anyone would sue (we are definately not a sue-happy group) but if insurance didn't cover it or whatever, there would probably be a grey area about responsibility involved. Someone had actually mentioned creating a "good faith" waiver kind of thing before working on projects like this. I was wondering if anyone out there has had anything similar to this occur or had any input on the matter. I am not a fan of legalities and believe that people generally go into this type of endeavor with good faith intentions anyway, so a "contract" would be unnecessary and perhaps give too much a feeling of mistrust or formality. But this was brought up in our group and will be discussed at our next meeting so I was searching for helpful ideas. Thanks! Dave
