Carpeting, non-toxic

I'm Jerry from a new Portland, OR retrofit housing group looking for a
name, and I like the idea of identifying ourselves in posts, which was
happening for a while on the coho list...

Carpeting made from recycled PET bottles does not off-gas, to answer
Barbara's concern. It is possible that the backing or the adhesive used
to glue the carpet (at seams) could be noxious. You can check on the
brand of recycled PET carpet to be sure it uses an inert or natural
backing (Envirotech does). Most carpet layers don't and won't use
low-toxic adhesive, find yourself one that will if it is important to
you.

Also, rug burns are no nastier from recycled content carpeting. It is
plush and soft. You'd never know... It also cleans well, does not
absorb stains.

I have some experience in renovating homes with low and non-toxic
materials.

Merry holidays! Jerry
