Just a note about that wet concrete at Tierra Nueva. I walked over to the sidewalk where the concrete was awaiting decoration, with my basket of marbles and small rocks and pointed sticks, popped into my friend Carrie's house to say hello first, sat down at her kitchen table and chatted. Meanwhile her three year old son Riley and Naomi one of our 3 year old twins had discovered the bliss of squishy concrete. We noticed them from Carrie's kitchen window, walking in bare feet on the new sidewalk concrete. Utterly delighted. When they were finished, and had run off to some other adventure, I walked over the survey the result. It was perfect, no other "decoration" was needed. Shortly after, the concrete man returned and noticed the footprints. He was dismayed, because he didn't think he could erase them completely. It was such fresh concrete that the tiny footprints made deep impressions. I replied that we *liked* it that way and not to worry about making it smooth again.
