Cohousing-L Mailing List: adapting apts/Portland, OR

I have been thinking about buying an apartment building, designating one
apartment as the Common House, and then selling off the rest of the units
to form a cohousing community.

Has anyone had experience doing this?  Any tips like coop vs condo,
potential pitfalls, getting money from fellow community members rather
quickly, etc.?

Anyone interested in doing this in Portland, specifically inner Southeast?
