Chiming in a little late here. . .  composting toilets were not 
mentioned.  Never a flush problem, no noisy flushes, good fertilizer 
for gardens -  cycling all those nutrients into compost rather than a 
concentrated pollutant makes composters an ideal choice for cohousing 
communities.
