[emphasis mine] . Thanks to Fred for raising this issue because it gives me
the opportunity to formally invite one person from every cohousing
community to volunteer to be Community Liaison from your community to The
Cohousing Network Board of Trustees. The responsibilities privileges?/ of
your stalwart representative would be (among other things)

1. Make sure your community listing on the cohousing website is up to date
by informing Michael McIntyre <cohousing [at] umich.edu. of any changes
(especially your status and contact person)

2. Encourage group membership in the Cohousing Network--if your group is
not already a member--(or individual memberships if your group is not
willing or able to join at this time.)

3. Keep a stack of the Network's lovely brochure on hand to give to
community members so they can help spread the word about cohousing to those
not already in the know.

4. Receive regular reports by email of the actions of the Network Board of,
which meets by telephone every other month, and meets face to face twice a
year.

5. Respond to surveys that the Network may wish to carry out relating to
various aspects of cohousing. Sometimes you will be able to answer the
questions yourself on behalf of your community. Sometimes we may ask you
to disseminate a survey to individual neighbors or households in your
community.

6. Encourage attendance at regional and N. American cohousing conferences
in your community/group.

7. Provide news briefs about your community/group to the Cohousing Journal
(or recruit someone else in your community to do so).

8. Receive praises and appreciations from your Board members as well as
from your neighbors.

If your group does not (yet) have a group membership, you must be an
individual member of the Network. (see web page for details if you don't
already know) in order to serve as Community Liaison.

Please correspond with me individually (jeblank [at] ic.org) or 510-655-7399, if
you would like to volunteer for this exalted position. For the time being,
I will be the keeper of the list. [If more than one person from any
community volunteers to be the liaison, I'll get back to both (or all three
or six <grin.?) of you and ask you to work it out between or among you.]
