Hi catya-
I have no idea if there is any "proper etiquette". However, we have
had a few people who were "just looking" and were also checking out other
groups. No one seemed to mind.
The reality is, especially for the first few meetings, the individual is
checking out the group, the new town/city and maybe just getting a feel for
this "cohousing thing". Once it's been more than a few meetings, it may
depend on whether or not there is any space left for you to move into. If
not, then how could we blame you for checking out another group? If there is
room, and they need commitments (and money), it might be tough to leave if
there isn't a waiting list when you decide to go. On the other hand, one of
the founding households of this present group left when a spot opened up in
Amherst, and not one of the other founders has ever expressed any hard
feelings whatsoever. So go figure.
