Linda Zimmerman here in Framingham, MA. As one involved with a fairly new
group I appreciate your post about developer driven cohousing. It would be
interesting to know how many groups with good intentions to create cohousing
fail in comparison to the number of cohousing communities that have been
created. It's a huge amount of time and energy for a group of people to pull
this off on top of the busy lives everyone leads.
When visiting a cohousing community last month, the resident giving the tour
mentioned that he had been involved in trying to create cohousing a few times
but eventually relocated his family and moved to an existing community. He
was so happy and grateful to be there and didn't seem to mind that he hadn't
been involved in the design.
Given the choice of creating cohousing or having it available in every
community as an option I wonder how many people would choose to create it?
