Patty asked:
Can you please describe the benefit auction? At Tierra Nueva we are
raising funds for our workshop/community building and are brainstorming
new ways to get there faster.

it was pretty simple - we asked members and friends of the community to donate
items or services - they ranged from small scuplptures, bumper stickers I
brought back from the Natl conference, home-made brownies (by a 10 year old,
from scratch- they were great - I bought them) to a 10 course Japanese dinner
for 6, knit hats, whatever.

People really got into bidding - our auctioneer wore a tux and (if I remember
right) Groucho glasses. it was a fun gathering. I have no idea how much we
raised, but every little bit helps.
