For our common house, I'd often heard "You can't have enough bulletin board space." So I planned that the entry hall would be lined with BBs on both sides, about 10 feet on each side of the hall. Now my co-members are suggesting that we go with half that. The bulletin boards will be of a handsome sage-green kind of rubbery material made by Forbo (the Marmoleum company). It comes on a roll and is 4 ft wide, so the BB will be 4 ft high. I imagine areas of BB for: Group business: announcements, committee reports, diagrams of proposed stuff Sign ups for work parties or planned social stuff. Lists of who's on what committee, or has what responsibilities. Some sort of thank-you space for acknowledgements. Postcards from vacationers.... A calendar of common-house space use, as well as other calendar stuff. Regional cohousing event invitations or announcements. Meal arrangements: sign ups, menus, etc. Personal items: for sale, give away, ride wanted, tickets available, lost and found Local cultural and political event flyers. Perhaps a "decision board" like Sharingwood uses, outlining proposed projects and soliciting input. Display? Perhaps a "person of the month" or children's art or propaganda for a pet cause (this month we'd probably get a volunteer display from the Nader fans). Photos? I'd appreciate knowing about how many linear feet of BB you use, what's on it, if it's enough, and any other advice. Thanks! Lynn Nadeau RoseWind Cohousing Port Townsend WA
