Dear Becky,
We recently bought several tables we like very much, as they are light, easy 
to move about, and fold in a jiffy.
We kept changing how we configured them till we found one we liked..... for 
now!
I'll have to check the measurements for you.  they may be narrower than 3".  
also, you may not want to have tables all of one length.  If we had one 
shorter one, we'd add it to then end of ours, and slightly lengthen our 
'table';  wehave moved ours all together so we can [mostly] all eat at one 
big table.

We may be having a house [mine] for sale down the road [I am newly married, 
and we may build a new house for ourselves on recently  acquired land!]
