I call what I was then a "fringe hippie." The fringes of the hippie phenomenon were also very big and very varied as well as far from having a united center (or any center) at all. And not all were on drugs. I suspect most of the people on this list, old enough to have been aware, were part of the hippie fringe in one way or another. "Back then" even joining the peace corps was considered to be a counter culture thing to do.
