Expectations can be a unnecessary burden. If you hold the expectation that
community meals should be offered every night, then you will be
disappointed if meals are only twice a week. If you examine your
expectations, then learn to question them, you may find letting go of some
of them will make you happier and perhaps more appreciative of the wonders
around you.

I couldn't agree more. And you don't have to do the examination in a group,
though I think that would be great.

A tool I have been using mostly by myself, to examine my beliefs/expectations
and decide which ones work for me and which I can drop , is
the Option Method and the Dialogue process which is one of it's major
tools.

Issues around beliefs about work, doing things "like me " - yep, there sure are
beliefs there that aren't helpful for me.

For me, the best known book, _Happiness is a Choice_, was very helpful, an
introductory workshop took the concepts to a new level, and further work at the
Option Institute has made this a big part of my life.
