A ratio is a division problem.

25/35=~.714 adults per household

43/53=~.811

So you have a slightly higher ratio of adults to households. However, at the
Madison, WI group, the ratio is 17/28=~.607, so they have fewer adults per
household. This doesn't take children into account at all.

I would turn it around. At N Street we have 17 houses and 37 adults . Thus 37/17 equals 2.2 adults per household. I doubt houses will average less than one adult per household, so I would reverse your ratios. Thus
35/25 = 1.4 adults per house.
53/43 = 1.2 adults per house

This tells me that these communities have a lot of single parents or small houses with single people living in them.

At N Street we have two houses with single parents and kids. One adult lives in a granny flat apartment. Three rental houses have 3 single adults in each. The common house has four single people living in the four bedrooms. One house has a married couple and child renting out a room to a single adult. Another single adult rents a room in her home to another single adult. The rest of the houses are more or less traditional families with two adults and kids per house. In our early days our ratio was about 3 adults per household but has been going down as more of the rental houses have been bought and over time the owners don't need or want to rent out rooms like they did when they first bought them.
