I was sitting in the wings of yet another Cohousing open house and got a very interesting perspective. A couple with kids were having a discussion about the project that was being proposed and they concluded not to put energy into it. Why? Because there was no playground or other kid focus on the plans. 12 years ago, prior to joining Sharingwood I too held a similar conversation with my partner. Later, we helped build a brightly colored play set, that still stands today, in the center of the community. I believe that play set is the reason why we have such a large amount of people with kids here. It is a magnet to the resident kids, and even when they only numbered three, it was a visible statement that kids are welcome here. You can SAY, families are welcome, but if on your plans, or on your site there is nothing to prove this, well.....
