I can see why one objects to the use of the word "commune",
since the word is employed to scare people (who by and large
don't know a "commune" from a hole in the ground).
But why object to the word "communal"? - I confess that I
like the word, and use it often.
If we simply object to it because it's a relative of "commune",
shouldn't the same reasoning exlude "common" (and perhaps
other words which I can't think of at the moment)  ??
