RE: Outdoor Cats

A friend of mine has created a wonderful outside "room" for her cat. She
has an opening from the garage into a large wire space that sits on her back
deck. There is an environment for the cat, and her cat seems very content
with this. I have an outdoor cat, and have been considering this as a
possible solution for my cat when I move into cohousing. My cat will be 8
or 9 by then, and I guess I am thinking he might be willing to put up with
this since he'll be older. The outdoor "room" definitely does not provide
opportunities for hunting, which is a cat's job, so I don't know what the
result will be.

Do other communities have any policies about cats being outdoors. I think I
checked this in the archives and read some discussion of problems, but
didn't see any real solutions.
