The Sharingwood Community Commonhouse has two accessibility additions, neither of which was a problem. We had to insure that one bathroom was accessible, and we had to put "panic hardware" on the doors. Panic hardware is where you push a bar to exit the building. Instead of installing this, we just installed wooden pushbars on all the doors. Of course we can't lock our commonhouse, but we live in a place where that has never been an issue. Of course, our building is mostly all one floor, the basement storage area is not accessible. This was not a problem for permitting as in our state, only the floor with the accessible bathroom has to be accessible. Any other floors do not. (although these things seem to change regularly and this may not represent the current rules) We have one member who is wheelchair bound. She has never used the commonhouse bathroom. Come to think of, neither have I.....
