One issue before us is what level of signage do we have to have. The code for hotels requires evacuation signs by all doors, fire alarms, etc. PLUS a sign that says setting fires is a crime along with the legal punishments. It makes me feel as if I am living in a cheap hotel to have them plastered up everywhere. On the other hand one DC official said that all we needed were the signs that were in place when we moved in (red exit signs). If we needed anything else, we wouldn't have gotten the certificate of occupancy. Sorting out what we are required to have and what is good practice and what is just expedient is hard with various people citing different sources.
