Re: Kids in meetings

I would think that including a child who is interested and is acting
appropriately in meetings would only help the community get a broader picture.
I would guess that most children of that age would probably come to a meeting
or two, and then find other things to do, unless something particularly
relevant came up. Excluding pre teens and teens from participation seems
likely to lead to young people pulling back from the community.

Our meetings are open to all residents and guests.

Noisy people are asked to desist (or leave).

We have a kids room next to the dining room (meeting room) with a window so
parents can see what is happening. There are soft seats and a rug in back of
the meeting room for parents with small children.

We have not had issues about who can attend a meeting or who cannot but if
the topic were sensitive, attendence would probably be discussed and decided
on a case by case basis.

My personal opinion is that having all ages present (or visible) is a good
reminder that this is a living community, not a corporation board.
