I don't currently live in cohousing but hope to soon, our group is meeting and hopeful. My children are all grown and part of our interest in cohousing is to have children in our lives. Re children in meetings, I went to a LLL conference this summer and there were children everywhere and children from 0 on up stayed in lectures and were not a problem or a distraction. If a child needed to leave, they quietly left with their caregiver. But for the most part they slept, played, and listened. The older children 6 or so on up, were for the most part in other activities. I sat next to a charming 4 year old at a very intense lecture on palates, she was well behaved and made sure the rest of us were quiet as well. I credit the heavy use of slings for some of the quiet behavior, but continue to be impressed that you could have a conference with some 1300 children and feel less invaded than watching some children at the supermarket, (possibly mine).
