Well, life in relationships with others is messy at times. You will not
always agree, nor will you give up your values and these things will be a
challenge as you work to make agreements with 30 or more adults with
differing values and experiences.

Avoidance is the most common form of conflict resolution. It's easy to avoid
your neighbors in the regular world, its pretty hard in cohousing world. So
you will eventually need to work on whatever your issues are. You may never
have any either. Some people don't.

But I will say this. Life in community is not for everyone. The good news
for cohousing is that if you make a mistake, you can almost always sell your
unit and get most your investment back. This is not true in some other kinds
of community.

My cohort in cohousing is not convinced that contention in cohousing is less
than conventional.

In other words she reads the co-housing and sees more "confrontational
material" than she is
comfortable with.

I say that people have a tendency to talk about their problems more than
successes.  I find it
interesting and stimulating to see how people do or dont work things out.
She finds it
worrisome.

It would be really great to see a flood of one line, "I think co housing is
great because....."
messages to keep things in balance.
