Cohousing-L Mailing List: DON'T POST OFF TOPIC MESSAGES

PLEASE DON'T POST OFF TOPIC MESSAGES
(or reply to them on list) 

Adding "off-topic" to the end of a subject line does not make it
acceptable to post it to Cohousing-L.  

If off-topic messages were allowed, the list volume would increase. It
would compound our main problem - information overload - too many
messages.  The main reason people report for unsubscribing is that they
can not keep up with the messages.  For most people the off-topic messages
will NOT be of interest.

ALL MESSAGES REVIEWED FOR NOW

I have taken the unprecidented step of reviewing all messages so I can
filter out off topic messages for a while.  Therefore the flow of messages
will be erratic (depends on how often I get to reviewing messages).

The off topic message today was: 
Subject: [C-L]_private-eye fiction (off topic)
from Robyn Williams <pov [at] iinet.net.au>

I will be forwarding further replies to Robyn rather than posting them to
cohousing-L .  If there is interest in setting up a listserv for this
"off-topic" (or off-topics in general ), I'd be happy to advise.  Please
write to Robyn directly if the topic interests you;  Robyn suggested this
in the original message but apparently folks often just reply to mail.  
Replies to Cohousing-L messages go back to the list.  I urge people to pay
attention to where replies are addressed.

On enforcing the rules.

I hope Robyn and those who replied on list and those I remind when they
make a mistake (such as leaving a "digest" subject line or posting HTML)
do not feel offended by my enforcing the rules.  I bear no "hard
feelings". I am just enforcing the rules for the greater good of the
discussion.
