Earlier today Jeff Zucker <jeffreyz [at] cableone.net> posted the message below about the Manzanita Village Common House but it got the subject line: [C-L]_Re:Coho Journal: Last Call for News items Art Gorski <agorski [at] rice.edu> has since supplied the URL of an image of their Common House -- see below. So I am posting both together with a better subject. Fred, cohousing-L list manager ----------------------------------------------------------------- Manzanita Village, located in the scenic mountains of Prescott, Arizona, recently experienced the unveiling of its permanent common house design. The people of Manzanita Village were thrilled to witness the culmination of years of effort on the part of the design committee, and the architects of Cohocom - Paul Moore, Jeff Zucker and Matt Ackerman. The design had gone through many permutations, as it had become obvious over a year ago that the previous design was unaffordable, due to its size. Fifteen hundred square feet were eliminated, resulting in a building design of three thousand square feet which will accommodate most, if not all of the needs of Manzanita Village. It will be three stories tall, with an elevator, allowing people to transverse the height difference between the upper road, where cars are parked, to the lower, pedestrian road, which is lined with houses. The community already occupies a temporary Common House, which was purchased and constructed by the first dozen member of Manzanita Village. However, as the village grows towards its ultimate size of 36 households, the temporary building is quickly becoming too small. It is available for purchase for anyone who would like to invest in a home in the village, with the proceeds from its sale going towards the permanent Common House. A few choice lots remain available, even as construction commences on new homes in the second phase of Manzanita Village. Jeffrey L. Zucker A.I.A. It is http://www.manzanitavillage.com/ -- Art Gorski * Mac Integration Staff * Rice University * Houston, Texas _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.communityforum.net/mailman/listinfo/cohousing-l
