I would add one thing to Jims excellent analysis. Sometimes, people need more time to chew on an idea, and folks that at first are totally against an idea, will come around to realize how silly they are being. Giving them a later time, to save face, and say yes, is a good way to help them out of the bind they are in. Sometimes you can just have a bad day, be unreasonable for no good reason.
