For children, we could look at the experience of children growing up on a
kibbutz. Here children are given more choices, rather than fewer. From what
I can gather, children benefit from this environment.

Cohousing is not an antidote to adolescent behaviour, but rather a design
that foster a larger probability of normal neighbourliness. The young person
is less likely to graffiti or get drunk out of likelihood of getting caught,
rather than out of obedience to a rule. Cohousing is intended to create an
enabling environment, not a prescriptive one. The desired outcomes of
learning to handle diversity are respectfully implied, rather than
imposingly written.
