CALENDARS: We have not used the Yahoo Calendar system for various
reasons -- the main one being that we have so many members who are not
tech savvy and hate email. They have not managed to navigate their way
in to the calendar.

One of our members did a calendar for our website but it has many
limitations. But we want a web based calendar because so many people
consult it from work. We need to have a calendar that shows multiple
rooms on one page, with room for a description of what the thing is
without clicking through to each one. And a way for the original poster
to delete their post.

This could be set up fairly easily in Sharepoint (see my other posting
about that), and no doubt there are many other solutions (not something
I've really researched personally). But you might want to put a little
more effort into seeing what you can do with the Yahoo calendar before
you try other solutions, almost all of which are going to be harder to
set up.

You can send people on your mailing list a direct link to the page with
your group's calendar; e.g.,

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/[groupname_goes_here]/cal < -- not a
real link

Yahoogroups also allows you to create "schedule messages", meaning you
could have it automatically send a message to everybody on the list once
a week with a link to the calendar, if you had to. 8-) Eventually the
ones you know how to bookmark stuff might teach the others.

We have also had some problems recently with oddly delivered emails.
This seems sporadic, however, probably related to Yahoo's changes. Given
the options it seems the best alternative.

I would love to hear how your change over goes. Our tech people are over
their heads with tech stuff at work and don¹t want the (24/7)
responsibility at home.

The question is what do other people use?
