Announcing a 1-week course on intentional communities and cohousing, to be held at Yestermorrow Design Build School, Warren, VT

Intentional Communities

Through lectures, slide shows, site visits, and guest speakers, we will explore cohousing and other sustainable community models. If there are students in the process of developing communities, we will use their sites as examples through which to explore and learn. This course is suitable for those who want to explore the options, those who are already in a group that has found land and all in between. Students will be asked to complete a questonnaire prior to the course so that we may tailor the content to your needs. Topics covered in the course will include: What is an intentional community and how do you join one? How do these communities evolve? What is so sustainable about living in community and how can you design a community to be more sustainable? How do you determine what kind of community is good for you? What do you need to know about looking for land? What does a participatory community design process look like?
