Within the parametres of the law there is a lot of scope for, and benefits
to be gained from fostering a diversity / different types of cohousing.

I like the types of cohousing listed on page 205 of McCamant & Durrett's
1994 Cohousing book (the green one). Here Don Lindemann suggests that core
groups are developed based on economic, political, or lifestyle preferences.

This diversity makes for more choice, makes consensus more likely, avoids
the sense that project might end up as the work of a committee / lowest
common denominator. 

I would hope to support projects that are owner-builder, or particularly
green, or with lots of studio space for creative endeavours. People who
join such a community do so aware of the colour of the community.
