Kevin...many Manufacturers of Water Softeners now recommend using Potassium
to regenerate water softeners...apparently the Environment and even our
bodies like it. I have read many condemnations of the magnetic
units....they are outlawed in many places. They do not change the structure
of the water at all.

Be careful of water softeners. Most are big polluters of salt. They are
starting to be outlawed in parts of Calif because of the harm they cause
rivers, wetlands, groundwater and agriculture. Has anyone looked into the
magnet based devices that supposedly soften water? I never found out if
they really worked. But salt-based water softeners, like salting roads for
ice, cause growing levels of environmental damage.
