I find the fear that a commercial dishwasher will make a kitchen feel less homey and friendly a little baffling. True, the door on our Hobart is a little more "industrial" looking than on a residential dishwasher -- no pretty trim details to collect grime and annoy the health inspector (which is definitely something Hobart's usual customers worry about -- or should). It's not that far outside the swings of fashion, though; stainless steel is the "in" finish for residential appliances. Compared to the controls of, say, the G.E. Profile in our unit kitchens, the Hobart is simplicity itself -- three touchpads and a small LED display screen. To me, the "mood" of a room is affected a lot more by the lighting, openness, and design of work areas -- on those counts, unfortunately, our common house kitchen rates, respectively, inadequate, cluttered, and less-said-the-better. The dishwasher is the one thing I feel enthusiastic about.
