We have just joined a cohousing project (after a long association) which is completing construction. At this point we are faced with decisions about what our individual unit layout will be. And so...we are grappling with kitchen issues for our "unit". We were going through the usual discussions about what cabinet should go where when we had a "lightbulb moment" about appliances which was, "wait a second, why are we considering a standard 30" gas oven with range when on a daily basis we never use more than 2 burners at a time for any routine family meal, and we probably roast something twice a week?" After all, for the twice yearly need to roast a 20lb turkey we can use the common kitchen. >From there we started to rethink what we needed in our private kitchen (after all, isn't one of the principles/effects of cohousing that we share resources?). So I was wondering what solutions other cohousers found for their "personal" kitchens: smaller (two-burner) ranges, combination micro-wave convection ovens, etc.? _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L
