We have a quarterly newsletter which is edited by a skilled member of our
community. This newsletter offers in-depth, feature articles about and by
comm'ty members or sometimes an article on a topic of general interest. It
is well-done, with images and captions and in a folio format. We used to
send it out to people on our wait list, but I'm not sure we do that anymore
as we are quite stable and have had only 3 households move out in 7 years.
The newsletter expenses are funded out of our annual budget.

For the kind of immediate-time news Elaine referred to, we utilize our
listserv and outside bulletin board. Our calendar is on an inside bulletin
board and contains meals, guest room reservations, CH reservations, and
comm'ty gatherings.

Our listserv is on Yahoo. We are able to send automatic reminders of annual
events (birthdays) as well as weekly events (yoga).

Communication is always an ongoing process, and we continue to fine-tune,
even after 7 years. Most people are on email, but not all read it regularly.
So we use a dual system to accommodate those differences. Sometimes I
personally would like a monthly highlights for the interesting bits I miss
out on. But everything takes time and one has to weigh the cost/benefit of
one more task for someone to take on.
