RE: low tech way of refining concerns in large groups

When I work with large groups & lots of views, I sometimes hand out strips
of paper (about 5cm by 20 cm ), so that each participant has at least three
strips. I then reverse cellotape on the whiteboard, so that the sticky side
faces up.

The topic depends on what is most figural, but in forming cohousing groups
it typically includes the questions like "main concern", "main hope", main
question".

As each person writes on their paper, the answers can be collated quickly,
as I stick the strips on the cellotape. Functionally, visualise using Lotus
Notes without computers.

This approach seems to retain momentum better than the ordinary "assign a
writer and report back to the group" approach. Once the collated work is on
the board, a discussion about patterns usually follows.

Happy to elaborate.
