Cohousing-L Mailing List: meat at every meal or not

Hi all,

Here at Jackson Place Cohousing, near downtown Seattle, Washington, we have
been having common meals five times a week for something like a year and a
half. The kitchen team and the cooks have worked hard to try to meet
everyone's needs and preferences, including those of both vegetarians and
meat eaters.  We have had meat at some of the meals each week, but not at
every meal during the week. Whenever we have had meat at a meal, the cooks
have also prepared vegetarian main dishes. But, now some people want meat at
every meal, while others are opposed to having meat at every meal. Some
folks are feeling quite strongly one way or the other. Our kitchen team is
attempting to find a solution that can work for everyone, but hasn't found
one yet.

So, we would like to know if this is something that has been discussed in
your community. If so, how do you deal with it? Has your  cohousing
community decided to have meat at all meals? at some meals? or have you left
it up to the cooks for each meal?
