In Arcata Ca. we are currently working with a developer to create a twenty-four home Cohousing community that will be affordable. Our strategy is to build two story structures with only the first floor (approximately 600 to 800 square feet) finished with a kitchen, bath, bedroom, and living room. The upstairs will be rough plumbed for a second bathroom and plans provided for a couple of floor plan options. These homes will qualify for a city grant for first time home buyers that will provide for very low down payments. We expect to begin construction in 2005.
