At Westwood Cohousing Community in Asheville, NC, now almost 6 years old,
the self-selection process actually has taken several years since first
move-ins. Sometimes it takes living in a place to find out whether it's a
good fit. Although it might not be the ideal or simplest process, people can
still leave after living in a community. The people who move in now that the
place is built and lived-in are generally more realistic about what's
involved than when we consisted of some drawings and ideas.
