Cohousing-L Mailing List: Membership process, esp. as it applies to renters

Oops! Sorry for not giving enough info.

Our cohousing group is all built but the last 2 of 24
homes, and we have been living here for over 4 years. 

We have a few rentals in our community, both
apartment/studios as well as entire homes. 

We have embraced self-selection, and my read of the
community sentiment is that we want to stay with that.
 
However, a few uncomfortable (and one traumatic)
experience with renters has us asking whether there is
more that we need to do during the information sharing
and membership process for prospective members, so
that members who truly want community self-select into
Heartwood.

I'd love to hear what other communities are doing as a
part of their process for prospective members.
