Attracting kids

I have been able to visit many cohousing groups over the past several years. One of the things I have found is that if there are no facilities which would attract kids, eg, playground type stuff or other amenities, it is harder to get parents with kids.

In order to both attract more kids, and to make a place for the few that began here, we built a big playset, in the middle of the community. Painted it bright colors. Our kids played on it, the visiting kids all joined them. Now we have a whole bunch of kids, and our community has evolved from elders to families.

The playset is still there, and now the commonhouse is behind it. Funny to think about that we built a playset before the commonhouse.
