There is sometimes TOO much planning, etc involved in getting started. Might
be easier to find a big house to rent, then invite people to cohabitat with
as a starting place. In this way you will have direct experience with
community life to work from, and also will filter in and filter out people
who you align with. The whole, lets all expend huge risk, buy land and
build houses approach, only works for a very small number of people. Once
you have a solid core of COMMITTED people living in the house, then you can
realistically move on to bigger things. I put the word committed in caps
because in my experience the vast majority of so called community seekers
actually have little real committment to making life changes to living
collaboratively, and thus they come and go, talk and talk but never actually
commit to doing anything about their talk.
Start simple, learn as you go, keep a larger vision ongoing. Rob Sandelin Sharingwood
