INTRODUCTORY COHOUSING PRESENTATION NEAR PHOENIX, ARIZONA AT ARCO SANTI Wednesday October 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Presenter: Charles Durrett For directions check website at www.arcosanti.org Cohousing communities cluster private, self-sufficient dwellings around a community center. Potential homeowners participate in the development of the community and help establish priorities from the very beginning. The resulting tightly-knit intergenerational neighborhoods make it easy for families to share childcare, yard work, and other resources. Clustering the homes and designing for energy efficiency reduces both day-today costs and the impact on the environment. The CoHousing Company has designed and developed dozens of cohousing communities in the United States and has received several awards - just recently for Cotati Cohousing in Cotati, California. The company was founded by cohousing pioneers Kathryn McCamant and Charles Durrett after their extended research of similar communities in Denmark. Learn more at www.cohousingco.com.
