Cohousing-L Mailing List: Numbers of Cohousing Communities in N. America

The website for Pacific Gardens Cohousing Community in the design phase in 
Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, states "

It has taken a solid hold in North America with about 40 completed, and 
some 400 projects in the planning stage."

These numbers are low on one end, way too high on the other.As usual, it's 
hard to tell when this community's website was created or updated, but 
readers of this listserve would probably like to know what the real numbers 
are now.

With somewhat arbitrary inclusions and exclusions in a small handful of 
cases, there are 78 completed communities in the U.S., and 7 in Canada (6 
in British Columbia and one in Alberta).  In the U.S, there are another 50 
to 60 in various stages of formation or development.
