There is an article in the NY Times today about housing for elderly called The Green House Project. It diverges from the traditional nursing home care of long linoleum hallways to something like the collective housing being discussed here: individual rooms with a bath and shared kitchen. It's an interesting article. Putting the humaness ahead of institutional-ness. It's too long an article to paste here but I could send it to you if interested. You might be able to access the Times site http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/23/national/23nurse.html?th&emc=th but it will likely require that you sign up. Should you decide to there is no charge and no trash emails that come with it. Bobi Yellow Plum Commons SE Washington State hi, all, let me once again throw in my five cent question since three of you just wrote about funding/money: there is a great need for collective housing (not commune, not special needs) for working adults that provides private suites w/ collective kitchen/common areas --has anyone heard of such places other than the Friends Meeting Houses which have this model or how we might creatively bring together funds to build such a place? thanks, bye, Alberta (East Somerville, Massachusetts)
