Tamiflu is of some usefulness with regular flu but
it is unclear what use if any it would be in the case
of a bird flu pandemic. My personal thought is that
stockpiling Tamiflu for that purpose is on about the
same level as stockpiling teddy bears, it might make
you feel better, reduce your anxiety but won't
necessarily have much real effect on the ultimate
outcome.
What has been found to be important in past
pandemics is steps to avoid as much contact with lots
of people as possible. So planning for how to manage
isolation techniques within the context of a cohousing
community seems like a more important discussion to be
having. One aspect of that conversation is about the
kind of preparedness for any other disruptive
disaster, ie stockpiling of food and water and
regularly taken medications so you don't have to go
outside to get them.
That's my two cents worth on this discussion
anyway.
